Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery (FCGS) is a subspecialty of medicine and surgery that uniquely restricts itself to the enhancement and/or restoration of appearance and function through surgical techniques. It is specifically concerned with maintaining normal appearance and function, restoring it, or enhancing it beyond the average level toward some aesthetic and functional ideal.

Dr. Stern explained that Labiaplasty is often requested when the Labia Minora are asymmetrical, excessively large, thick, dark, long, butterfly or any combination of these issues. The cause may be hereditary, genetic, or occur with aging, weight change, or pregnancy. With Vaginoplasty, a small percentage of women are born with a poorly supported and enlarged vagina, however most often it is acquired; resulting from multiple or difficult childbirths. Stretching and tearing of muscles, fascia, and supporting structures even occurs with normal childbirth. The resultant loss of muscle tone (and tearing) and overall enlargement of the vagina often results in loss of sensation during sexual relations, which frequently can affect a woman’s relationship with her mate, or spouse & be a major factor in loss of sexual enjoyment & satisfaction for both partners.
