Improved Abdominoplasty Results and Decreased Downtime With New BILA Technique

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CHICAGO, IL – Liposuction remains one of the top cosmetic procedures performed in the United States today. Since its inception in 1974 by Dr. Giorgio Fischer, a gynecologist from Italy, physicians have continually strived to further refine the technique, increasing the results while decreasing complications and recovery. Liposuction was revolutionized in 1985 with California dermatologist Dr. Jeffrey A. Klein’s invention of the tumescent technique. But impressive advances can still being seen to this day. One such advance was recently developed by internationally-renowned surgeon Dr. Harold Bafitis, integrating several cosmetic procedures including liposuction that provides results that are truly transformational to both the patient and the field of cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Bafitis’ comprehensive Bafitis Integrated Liposculpture Abdominoplasty (BILA) procedure is a combination of liposculpture and abdominoplasty that can be performed with minimal anesthesia and minimal downtime. Fat transfer to areas like the buttocks can be incorporated as well for a total body transformation.

“By combining liposculpture, fat grafting, circumferential tightening and abdominoplasty, this procedure can now be done with only IV sedation or, in selected patients, monitored ‘awake’ sedation,” states Dr. Bafitis. “Patients no longer have to be bent forward for weeks and have worries about excessive tension at the incision line. The patient is usually up and walking within a few days. And drains are limited and often not necessary. The patients and results speak for themselves.”

An internationally-renowned authority on cosmetic and plastic surgery, Dr. Harold Bafitis is double board-certified in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. For over 20 years, Dr. Bafitis has trained medical students, residents and other cosmetic surgeons. In addition, he contributes to prominent medical publications and has lectured nationally and internationally to medical and lay groups about all aspects of cosmetic and plastic surgery.

Dr. Bafitis along with Dr. Thomas L. Jackson are the featured keynote speakers at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery’s (AACS) upcoming hands-on cadaver dissection workshop on New and Established Techniques in Breast and Body Contouring. Held June 21-23 at the prestigious Practical Anatomy & Surgical Center training facility at Saint Louis University, the event gathers a world-class faculty to present new and established procedures and complications management in the field of body and breast contouring.

“This hands-on cadaver workshop is truly a unique opportunity for all cosmetic surgeons, from residents to the more seasoned physicians,” states Dr. Gerald Edds, AACS President. “Attendees are able to further hone their skills in these areas, learn new techniques like Dr. Bafitis' BILA technique and, perhaps more importantly, learn how to effectively mediate any complications – all in a safe, no-risk environment that affords plenty of one-on-one interaction with the internationally renowned expert faculty.”

Each day is focused on one area of cosmetic surgery with hands-on cadaver work incorporated into the second half of the day. Day one focuses on Breast Augmentation and Mastoplexy; day two on Breast Reduction and; day three on Body Contouring. Attendees can register for their choice of breast, body or both workshops.

Ulthera Technology - Skin Tightenting and Skin Lifing

This presentation shows many before and after photos of Ultherapy including "face and neck tightening" and upper brow lifting. The results are apparent almost immediately but take 3 months to “mature” and improve; lasting 18-24 months, in most cases.

Watch video of Dr. Harold Bafitis discussing this procedure as he has it done on himself.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of The Palm Beaches Inc., has been designated national training site for other physicians in the use of Ultherapy.

Ultherapy a Nonsurgical skin lifting procedure. It's not a laser. It's not an injection.

Dr. Harold Bafitis Now Offers Ultherapy® – A Breakthrough Cosmetic Treatment For West Palm Beach and Wellington, FL Patients.

West Palm Beach, FL - Dr. Harold Bafitis, announced today that the first-of-its-kind treatment, known as Ultherapy® is now available at his offices. Ultherapy has captured the interest of the medical community and top news media across the country because it lifts and tones the skin in a meaningful way but without surgery. After just one treatment, with no downtime.

Set your Tivo and watch THE DOCTORS on Monday March 26 -  show will focus on this new Ultherapy treatment from Ulthera.

“This represents a whole new paradigm within aesthetic medicine,” says Dr. Bafitis “and my patients are thrilled to have an effective ‘entry level’ option for improving sagging skin that doesn’t entail cutting or downtime.”
The use of this FDA-cleared ultrasound technology enables physicians, for the first time, to see and then treat the deepest support layers of the skin addressed in surgery without disrupting the uppermost layers of skin. There can be some initial contraction but the ultrasound energy also triggers the body’s natural response mechanism, which is to rejuvenate aging collagen and supplement it with new collagen. This will gradually, over the course of two to three months, strengthen and tone the skin and gently shift it into a more youthful position. While the results do not duplicate the results of surgery, Ultherapy’s gradual improvements make it a compelling option for those who are not quite ready for surgery.

Tens of thousands of Ultherapy treatments have been provided worldwide, and Dr. Bafitis is pleased to be at the forefront in the U.S. of this clinical advance, cleared by the FDA in September 2009. This non surgical option can be used in the areas of the body with loose saggy skin. Bafitis Plastic Surgery has been designated a national training site for other physicians, in the use of Ulthera® technology.
